Good vs. Evil Drama

The battle for the final two commenced last night!

It was a sweet tussle between idols Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey.

Adam, singing Johnny Cash’ “Ring of Fire” represented the evil, hot flaming, falsettoing, Nine Inch Nail inspired contestant. On the other hand Danny, belting Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus Take the Wheel,” was the good-boy, heaven sent contingent. My jaw literally dropped after their performances.

Even it didn’t really sound like country for Adam’s rendition, it doesn’t really matter. Changing the song into something that fits him well, worked out very, very fine. If Kara thinks it was strange and she kinda likes it, I think it was indeed strange, and I kinda love it. ‘Twas hot, intense, sweet.

Danny took the good side last night. Accompanied by the bright white lights while he was performing, it seems like angels were all over the stage raising him up!

Piercing. It was just like piercing your soul.

Dark Horses of the Apocalypse

If there would be dark horses, these three guys would be it:
  • Anoop Dawg was “from zero to hero,” as Simon said it. After nailing “You’re Always on My Mind,” Anoop is back again in the competition. Welcome back dawg!
  • Tender Dawg Kris Allen sang “To Make You Feel My Love.” For Paula it was a “vulnerable performance.” And yes it was. It was soothing and flawless.
  • Matt Giraud. The jazzy JT did it again after singing “So Small.” And well, even he’s not a front runner in the competition, he’s definitely adding spice to it.
Better watch out for them in the forthcoming weeks!

Since girls are already outnumbered on the second week of performance night, I am picking Megan Joy and Allison Iraheta as the best female performers. Megan was awesomely lovely to the nth degree! Singing “Walking’ After Midnight,” she proved that she deserves to be in the Summer Tour after making it to the top ten. Caw! Caw!

Allison, who was part of the bottom three, still managed to be the sweet-young-rockstar as she was, during the performance night. Unluckily, she did not impress the judges, who persuasively convinced America not to vote for her. As a result, she’s down there. Sigh.

I predicted that Michael, Alexis, and Scott to be in the bottom three today. And yes, even Lil. Their performances were kinda weak and there's nothing impressive about them. I even predicted Michael to be out today, just like most people think, but nah… dirty Alexis heads home rather.

In the end, there will only be three girls in the summer tour, accompanied by the seven guys.

viva la vida loca?

the sound of the latest single of Coldplay, Viva La Vida, didn't please my midbrain.

however, checking out Boyce's Avenue's channel at youtube changed my perception of the song.

now, i've started to like it...

Boyce Avenue - Viva La Vida (Acoustic)

they're just too talented to cover songs...

LSS: Latest Song Supplements

I really appreciate James' effort to visit our hub. Because of him, I have a new set of songs that are now part of my WMP playlist. Here are my top seven LSS:

1. Flying Without Wings - Westlife
This is so high schoolish. Listening to this song only reminds me of JS Proms and endless cheesy high school balls. Nostalgic, isn't it?

2. On the Radio - Regine Velasquez
I have this 'something' for the Asia's Songbird. Sometimes, I love her songs, sometimes not. Well, today is an example of the previous.

3. Because of You - Kelly Clarkson
I really don't know what's with this song, but what I'm only sure of is that it reminds me of you...

4. In A Rush - Blackstreet
Soothing. This is something you would want to hear if you want to stay away from stress.

5. Let's Groove - Earth Wind and Fire
Let's get funky! I love this song. It's a dynamite.

6. Tilt Ya Head Back - Nelly ft. Christina Aguilera
A killer club song. It's a Nelly hit with Baby Jane.

7. The Way I Are - Timbaland ft. Keri Hilson
To cap the hot seven is my current ultimate clubbing song. Love the beat. I'm haunted by the dancefloor.

So there it is. It seems that my roommie is sick and tired of listening to the same songs over and over again. But what can I do? It's a routinary supplement. Wapak!

5th Grade Indie Film

While trying to ponder on open-ended activities I might facilitate with my class this coming school year, I remember the homemade film produced by my students as their project in their fifth grade Science class last year.

The idea of producing a film was courtesy of Teacher Benji, their laboratory instructor. Thus, Teacher Heidi guided them in finalizing the script and during the production proper.

So what are you waiting for, bring out your popcorn bags and enjoy the show!

I was really amazed by the creativity of these kids in producing this short film. Their ingenuity to generate such opus, their perseverance to finish it, and their assertion that even with this simple piece of work, they had proven to the world that 11-year-old children can initiate change.

More Air!

Two months ago, I blog about the song "No Air" by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown.

But before I conclude that I'm finally over with my LSS of that song, I heard an acoustic piano version courtesy of Pseudostratified dreamS.

No Air (Piano Acoustic) - Alejandro Manzano

OMG. I really love this song, but hearing it over a piano melts my heart further and brings it to its triple point.

Sigh.

Alejandro Manzano is the lead vocals of Boyce Avenue, a Florida-based band popular for its strong acoustic roots and constant drive toward a melody-and harmony-driven rock sound. Three brothers consists the group: Alejandro, Fabian, and Daniel Manzano, and Stephen Hatker.

UP Pep in ABS Summer Station ID

I’m definitely not a Kapamilya. However, this particular ad caught my attention because of the 2007 UAAP Cheer Dance Competition Champions — the UP Pep Squad. Okay I admit, I’m a Pep Squad fanatic. Happy now?

Losing you is like living in a world with NO AIR

I’m so into songs with very good lyrics. Well , here's one my interneurons keep on telling my 1.3 kilogram wrinkled lump of grey matter to resonate every now and then (in other words, an LSS):

Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown’s NO AIR

ARTIST: Jordin Sparks featuring Chris Brown
ALBUM: Jordin Sparks
RELEASED: February 11, 2008
WRITERS: J. Fauntleroy II, Eric "Blue Tooth" Griggs, H. Mason Jr., D. Thomas, S. Russell

Jordin Sparks No Air Lyrics

If I should die / before I wake / It’s cause you took my breath away / Losing you is like living in a world / with no air

I’m here, alone / didn’t want to leave / My heart won’t move / it’s incomplete / Wish there was a way / that I can get you to understand

But how / Do you expect me / To live alone with just me / Cause my world revolves around you / Its so hard for me to breathe

Tell me how I’m supposed to breathe with no air / Can’t live can’t breathe with no air / that’s how I feel whenever you ain’t there / Its No Air No Air / Got me out here and the water so deep / Tell me how you gonna be without me / If you ain’t here I just can’t breathe / It’s No Air No Air

I walked / I ran / I jumped / I flew / Right off the ground / to float to you / There’s no gravity / to hold me down / for real

But somehow / I’m still alive inside / You took my breath / But I survived / I don’t know how / But I don’t even care

So how… (How) / Do you expect me... (Me) / To live alone with just me… (Ohh) / Cause my world revolves around you / its so hard for me to breathe

I love this song. Even though it doesn’t really tell any of my current hypothalamus status, the song portrays martyrdom in a very scientific sense…
· My HEART won’t move, it’s incomplete (think of cardiac arrest?)
· Cause my world REVOLVES around you (in 365.25 days, 366 if it is a Leap Year, just like this year!)
· There’s no GRAVITY to hold me down (well actually there is, its just it’s not that strong)
· Tell me how I’m supposed to BREATHE with no air (compressed air tank? no, not oxygen tank - we shouldn't call it such according to my diving instructor)

See what I mean? Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. I wonder who wrote this song… (Oh, I wrote it ^ there)

Consequently, the video is great also; thou Chris Brown look better in his video with Lil’ Mama than this one. Jordin, in a live phone interview in RX, even admitted that she likes Chris Brown. The bad thing is, the guy is taken already by someone who pleads for the music not to be stopped.

The arrangement is very good. The vocals? It’s superb! I really wanted Blake to win the Idol but now I’m fully convinced that Jordin deserves the throne. I wonder who is doing the second voice in the last part? Is it Jordin? or Chris? ‘Coz honestly, I can’t recognize their voices anymore.

To think, if you’re an anaerobic bacterium, you’ll realize soon that you can actually live in a world with NO AIR.
